Rick Leo George Schnurr
Rick Schnurr, age 56 years, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2016 at Squamish General Hospital. An extremely hardworking man, a highly respected and admired business figure, devoted husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, brother in law, uncle, nephew and friend. He was looked up to by many and his strength will be missed.
Born in Surrey on August 6, 1959 he moved to Squamish just before his 2nd birthday. He was the eldest son of Leo and Evelyn Schnurr.
Married September 5, 2014 he was the beloved husband to Cheri Schnurr.
In addition to his wife and parents, Rick will be sadly missed by his 3 children, Jennifer, Todd (Amanda Downs) and Sylvia. 4 Grandchildren, Haden, Chloe, Miya and Carter. 2 Brothers Shane(Shannon) and Donny(Marie). 9 Nieces and Nephews Kyle(Meagan), Scott(Ashley), Lexa, Bobbi, Colten, Darren, Stephen, Kyle and Heather. As well as 2 Great Nephews Austin and Lucas.
Rick’s life work and passion was running L&A Equipment. His eye for detail and his enthusiasm to get the job done right made him a highly respected leader in the construction community.
Rick loved to travel and while he favored Thailand the most, he truly enjoyed exploring the sights, meeting the people and having adventures in whatever country he traveled to.
Rick was an honest, kind and caring man whose strength and spirit seemed to cover all those close to him like a protective wing.
He will be deeply missed.
Private viewing and graveside service will be held for family and very close friends as well as public memorial.
A public memorial service will be held at Totem Hall, 1380 Stawamus Rd, Squamish, BC V8B 0B5, on Wednesday August 3, 2016 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Squamish Hospital Foundation. The family would like to thank all the staff members at St. Paul’s Hospital in I.C.U. for their compassion and loving care of Rick.
