Obituary for
David Douglas Stewart
Born Dec 13th, 1934 – Nov 9th, 2016
Dave was born in Vancouver, B.C. on December 13th, 1934. He took his early schooling in Ocean Park, B.C.. He then graduated in Langley, where he studied grade 13. David, went onto UBC where he studied and graduated in Pharmacy, after graduating in Pharmacy, he married his wife, Elsie, and together they moved to Squamish, B.C..
Dave loved Squamish, becoming very active in the community. He became the President of the Chamber of Commerce, as well as President of the Lions Club, and the Rotary Club of Squamish. David was also at one point the mayor of Squamish, an Alderman, the Chairman of Pharmasave Drugs, and the local Coroner for thirteen years.
Venturing to revitalize Downtown Squamish, Dave and two other Squamish residents flew to purchase our Industrial Park from the Provincial Government.
Dave leaves behind his two children, Barbara Lee Pearce and David Bradley Stewart (Sylvia), three granddaughters, Ashley Stewart, Alysa Stewart (Yas), Janine Stewart, and his great granddaughter, Payton Stewart. David also leaves behind his many great friends, and his daily coffee group that he enjoyed.
A service in honour of David will be held on November 26th, at 11:00 AM at Squamish Funeral Chapel.
