Obituary for
Neal Boyd
Neal Tanner Boyd (1947-2016)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Neal Boyd on November 22, 2016 after years of battling Multiple Sclerosis. A life altered and taken too early by a debilitating disease.
Born in North Vancouver on January 10, 1947, Neal moved to Squamish during his grade school years. Neal and Geraldine (Gerry) married in 1966 and went onto raise a family in Squamish. Neal worked in the logging industry as a heavy duty mechanic until he was diagnosed with MS in 2001. Known by his family and friends to be generous with his time, he was always willing to offer a hand where needed. He worked hard to give his family a lifestyle that was fun and secure and created a healthy foundation that has been carried into their homes.
He is survived by his devoted wife Gerry, his son Edward (Erin), his daughter Anita (Peter) and his four grandchildren Maya, Kailyn, Janine and Thomas. Predeceased by his father Wayne, mother Della also of Squamish BC and brother Ford, survived by his sisters Joy (Jim), Janet, sister-in-law Sheila and his brothers Todd (Diane) and Lane (Lynn) and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to say special thanks to friends and neighbours who supported Neal while dealing with MS: Joe and Dina Vriend for checking on Neal daily when he was home on his own. Nancy McCartney for allowing Gerry unwavering flexibility as an employee of Garibaldi Graphics in her care for Neal. Thank you also to Jim Mulholland, Eric Pearson and Stan Thompson for taking the time to regularly drop by to visit Neal at home and at Hilltop.
No service is planned as per Neal’s request. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the MS Society of Canada directing to “Services in my Community”.
