Marian Louise Mills (Irving)
May 6, 1939 to January 19, 2017
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marian Mills on January 19, 2017. Marian was born to proud parents Jacob and Dorris Irving on May 6, 1939 in Vancouver BC.
A lifelong volunteer, Marian spent 50 years with the Squamish Hospital Auxiliary raising funds for purchasing equipment and supplies for our local hospital. Marian was instrumental in ensuring there was a giftshop in the current building which was built in 1982. She was also an avid curler and bowler achieving her master bowling coach certificate to pass on her knowledge of her favorite sport to many younger bowlers. Marian was a long time member of the Howe Sound Drama club and a member of the West Coast Railway Association from the beginning of the construction of the Railway Heritage Park.
As a long time member of St John the Divine Anglican church she played an active roll in the planning of the current church building. Marian was also a founding member of the Sea to Sky Singers.
Marian enjoyed crafts and traveling and went on over 30 trips around North America and the world.
Marian leaves behind her beloved son Trevor (Olivia) and 2 grandchildren. She is preceded by her husband Hubert. She will also be missed by her many dear friends and fellow volunteers.
The Family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Squamish General Hospital and Hilltop House.
A service of remembrance will be held at St John the Divine Church 1930 Diamond Road on February 4, 2017 at 1PM. Refreshments to follow in the church hall.
