It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend to many.
Born Nov 10, 1931 in Toronto, Ontario. Barbara passed away peacefully on Oct 2, 2017 at the North Shore Hospice in Vancouver following a stroke on Sept 9, 2017.
Barbara is survived by Doug, her devoted husband of 62 years. She is predeceased by her eldest child Tom (2015). She will be dearly missed by her children Donna (Kurt), Alan (Karen) and Leslie (Greg) as well as her grandchildren Chris, Nick, Sarah and Kieran.
Barbara loved to go camping with Doug and her children when they were younger. They had many black Labrador dogs over the years, a love which has carried over to all their children. Barbara was always a happy and vivacious lady with a sparkle in her eyes and dimples that melted many a heart.
Barbara will be remembered for her beautiful smile, sense of humour, generosity and kindness to all who knew her. She loved to travel the world, organize large trips for family and friends and thrived when entertaining with large dinner parties. Barbara welcomed everyone into her home with open arms and an open heart. Barbara was a giving person who volunteered freely of her time with the Special Olympics and at the I.O.D.E. She was always there to listen and lend a hand, she has left us all with great memories.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the North Shore Hospice for their care and compassion given to Mom in her last days.
A celebration of Barbara’s life will take place at a later time in both Whistler, BC and in Oakville, On.
